Bachman). According to research, the article states, "Restroom cleanliness is a key indicator of overall restaurant cleanliness and does indicate the sanitation of the overall foodservice operation". The article continues, "Cintas found that 88% of people in the U.S. who experience an unclean restroom at a restaurant think it reflects poor sanitation in the rest of the operation, including the kitchen and food preparation areas. Patrons do not return to a restaurant when the restroom is dirty. Over one-fourth of respondents said they would never come back to a restaurant when the restroom was found to be dirty." Another interesting insight the article highlights is that customers have significantly higher expectations of cleanliness in a food and beverage venue than they do in a retail environment.
